When you find a counsellor you can really trust, who really gets you...
...this is when things start to change
Perhaps you are here because you are struggling. You want help. You want to find a professional you can trust. AND you want to work with someone who can help you live a happier more meaningful life. Or you might be concerned about your teenage son or daughter and want to help them grow into the confident, peaceful person you see inside them.
Together, we can build a safe relationship where you will learn about yourself and uncover what’s keeping you stuck.
I’ll share my Therapeutic toolbox, where you learn how to be kind to yourself and live a more fulfilling life. In my work as a Counsellor and Psychological Therapist, I am privileged to be able to help people overcome their problems and heal their pain. I am Samantha Dhu – a qualified and compassionate Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I have always loved helping people feel better about themselves so that they can focus on the things that matter Counselling is a huge part of who I am as a person. It is my calling. I deeply believe everyone deserves to be heard and to have a safe, supportive space to go.
From a young age, I’ve been drawn to those struggling and have naturally been interested in helping others. I love hearing people’s stories. I am always trying to see situations from other perspectives and have a natural curiosity. I believe counselling offers people the opportunity to grow, and in some cases, to completely transform their lives. Coming from a family of "helpers"- including a Mum who is a Social Worker - it would seem I was destined to become a Counsellor. It’s simply something I was born to do.
I have walked alongside people through some of their darkest times. I have also seen people experience huge shifts in their lives and flourish in the kind of joy they’d only previously dreamed about. My many years of experience help me hold the space for you to become everything you’re meant to be.
I know change is possible. I also believe it is essential that you are willing to prioritise your mental health.

I wish I could provide you with testimonials from some of the many clients I have helped. Due to ethical standards as a Psychological Therapist and accredited mental health Social Worker I am not allowed to share testimonials. However, I am often told I am easy to talk to, down to earth, and that I make people feel comfortable and safe.
I can tell you that one of the main types of therapy I use, called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), has some of the strongest scientific evidence behind it. I can tell you that I have been helping people through tough times for over 10 years. I can tell you that I have 6 years of university training.
I can tell you that I believe there is always hope.
My practice is shaped by many years of Postgraduate training including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) therapy training in the UK, extensive Gestalt training in Perth, Family therapy training in Melbourne, as well as my four years of undergraduate training at Curtin University.
Having over 10 years’ experience working for the government and the Not-For-Profit community sector I am fortunate to be trained to work with a wide variety of people with an array of presenting concerns.
When I’m not running my business, and doing the work I love, I’m busy running around after my fiercely headstrong and fun-loving toddler (teaching her to be assertive has clearly backfired!) Before I became a mum, I was a bit addicted to travel – both are good for the soul.
