My Background

From a young age, I’ve been drawn to those struggling and have naturally been interested in helping others. I love hearing people’s stories. I am always trying to see situations from other perspectives and have a natural curiosity. I believe counselling offers people the opportunity to grow, and in some cases, to completely transform their lives. Coming from a family of "helpers"- including a Mum who is a Social Worker - it would seem I was destined to become a Counsellor. It’s simply something I was born to do.

I have walked alongside people through some of their darkest times. I have also seen people experience huge shifts in their lives and flourish in the kind of joy they’d only previously dreamed about. My many years of experience help me hold the space for you to become everything you’re meant to be.

I know change is possible. I also believe it is essential that you are willing to prioritise your mental health.

Reassurance

I wish I could provide you with testimonials from some of the many clients I have helped. Due to ethical standards as a Psychological Therapist and accredited mental health Social Worker I am not allowed to share testimonials. However, I am often told I am easy to talk to, down to earth, and that I make people feel comfortable and safe.

I can tell you that one of the main types of therapy I use, called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), has some of the strongest scientific evidence behind it. I can tell you that I have been helping people through tough times for over 10 years. I can tell you that I have 6 years of university training.

I can tell you that I believe there is always hope.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

My practice is shaped by many years of Postgraduate training including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) therapy training in the UK, extensive Gestalt training in Perth, Family therapy training in Melbourne, as well as my four years of undergraduate training at Curtin University.

Having over 10 years’ experience working for the government and the Not-For-Profit community sector I am fortunate to be trained to work with a wide variety of people with an array of presenting concerns.

When I’m not running my business, and doing the work I love, I’m busy running around after my fiercely headstrong and fun-loving toddler (teaching her to be assertive has clearly backfired!) Before I became a mum, I was a bit addicted to travel – both are good for the soul.

  • Psychological Training: Post Graduate Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Southampton University. 2014
  • Undergraduate Degree:  Bachelor of Social Work, Curtin University, 2004
  • Professional Membership: AASW (Accredited Mental Health)
